Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

NewsDrift is a public news site at newsdrift.co.uk. This policy explains how reader information is collected, used, and protected.

Who We Are

NewsDrift publishes public-interest articles, author profiles, topic pages, RSS feeds, and related editorial pages. The public website address is newsdrift.co.uk. NewsDrift is owned by ByteCast Prime, whose website is bytecastprime.com. This policy describes the reader-facing website and does not cover private newsroom tools except where public profile information is displayed.

Information We May Collect

NewsDrift may collect information readers provide voluntarily and basic technical information needed to operate the website.

  • Contact form submissions, comment forms, correction reports, reader inquiries, and similar forms.
  • Names and email addresses submitted voluntarily.
  • Comment submissions, including name, email address, comment text, and moderation information.
  • Technical information such as browser type, device type, IP address, pages visited, referral information, timestamps, spam signals, and general usage activity.
  • Cookie and consent preferences.
  • Optional saved commenter details when a reader consents and chooses to remember them in the browser.
  • Media or profile information when account or upload features are available to authorized users.

Contact Forms and Reader Messages

If you send NewsDrift a message through the contact page, email contact@newsdrift.co.uk, or use a reader comment form, the information you provide may be used to receive reader messages, respond to inquiries, review correction requests, moderate or manage comments/messages, prevent spam, abuse, or misuse, maintain site security, and support editorial accountability. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request.

Comments and Reader Contributions

When you submit a comment, NewsDrift collects the content, the name you choose to display, moderation data, and technical data needed to protect the site from spam or abuse. Email addresses submitted through comments are used for moderation and are not displayed publicly.

Author Images and Gravatar

Public author pages and article bylines use a saved profile image first. If no saved image exists, NewsDrift may use a Gravatar URL generated from a normalized email hash, followed by initials as a final fallback. Raw author email addresses should not be displayed publicly by this fallback process.

Cookies, Embedded Content, Analytics, and Advertising

NewsDrift uses necessary cookies to remember consent choices and support secure staff sessions. With consent, local storage can remember commenter name and email details in the reader's browser.

NewsDrift uses Google Analytics on public reader pages to understand readership and site use. Analytics storage defaults to denied under Google's Advanced Consent Mode. In that state, Google Analytics does not read or write its first-party Analytics cookies, although the Google tag may send cookieless, consent-aware measurement signals to Google. If a reader enables Analytics, normal cookie-based measurement may begin. The choice can be changed through Cookie preferences; withdrawal returns analytics storage to denied and clears known first-party Analytics cookies.

Third-party media players and social widgets are blocked until optional functionality is enabled. Once loaded, embedded content may behave as if you visited the provider directly, and the provider may process data according to its own policy.

How Information May Be Used or Shared

NewsDrift may use information to operate the site, respond to reader requests, maintain security, improve editorial products, understand audience behavior, and comply with legal or operational obligations.

NewsDrift does not sell personal data. Information may be shared with service providers that help operate the website, legal or safety advisors where necessary, or authorities if required by applicable law.

Retention, Rights, Children, and Security

NewsDrift may keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, site security, editorial accountability, legal obligations, or operational records.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of certain personal data. NewsDrift is not directed at children, and readers should not submit information about children unless there is a clear public-interest reason and appropriate care.

NewsDrift uses reasonable security measures, but no website can guarantee absolute security.

Privacy Requests and Changes

Privacy requests may be sent to contact@newsdrift.co.uk or through the contact page. Include enough detail for NewsDrift to understand and review the request responsibly.

This policy may be updated as NewsDrift adds features, services, or legal review. The last updated date will be revised when meaningful changes are made.
