Corrections Policy

NewsDrift aims to correct significant factual errors openly and promptly. When a published article contains information that is materially wrong or misleading, the newsroom should update the article and explain the change where appropriate.

• Names, dates, numbers, and locations.
• Quotes, headlines, captions, and summaries.
• Links or source references.
• Missing context that materially changes a reader's understanding.
• Other factual inaccuracies that affect the meaning or fairness of a story.

• Correction: fixes a factual error in published material.
• Clarification: improves wording or context where the original text could be misunderstood.
• Update: adds new information to a developing or continuing story.

1. Review the concern.
2. Verify the correct information.
3. Update the article.
4. Add a correction, clarification, or update notice when appropriate.
5. Preserve transparency for readers.

Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or style issues may be corrected without a formal notice if they do not change the meaning of the article.

Articles are not normally deleted simply because they contain correctable errors. Removal may be considered only in rare cases such as legal concerns, safety risks, duplicate publication, serious ethical problems, or content that should not have been published.

Correction [Date]: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated [incorrect information]. The article has been updated to reflect [correct information].

Correction requests should include the reader name, article link, a clear explanation of the issue, a supporting source, document, or reference if available, and the preferred follow-up contact.
